SUMMARY:
Our client in the plastics manufacturing industry is seeking an experienced Senior Toolmaker to join their team in Cape Town, Ottery.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the manufacture, repair, and maintenance of moulds and precision components, ensuring optimal performance and production efficiency within the toolroom environment.

POSITION INFO:

Cape Town, Western Cape

Requirements:

Grade 12 / Matric essential
Trade Test: Tool Jig and Die Maker (MERSETA)
Minimum N2 qualification in a related technical field
10–15 years’ experience as a Toolmaker within the plastics moulding or manufacturing industry
Strong understanding of toolroom equipment, precision machining, and mould maintenance
Proven ability to interpret technical drawings and carry out fault finding and troubleshooting
Sound knowledge of Health & Safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills
Ability to work independently under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Key Responsibilities:

Operate toolroom and related machinery safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively
Manufacture, maintain, and repair moulds and related tooling components with precision
Conduct fault finding and troubleshooting on moulds and components
Provide input on mould design and manufacturing processes
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment
Mentor and train apprentices in Toolmaking techniques
Manage machine shop tools, stock, and maintenance records
Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Quality, and Food Safety standards
Contribute to continuous improvement and uphold company manufacturing standards
