Server & Storage Infrastructure (Network) Engineer

SUMMARY:
Our Midrand client is looking for a Server & Storage Infrastructure (Network) Engineer.

POSITION INFO:

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or similar in ICT
• Minimum 5 – 10 years’ experience as Server & Storage administrator
• Experience with KVM Hypervisor and Veeam is essential
• Experience with Lenovo Storage systems would be an advantage
• Ability to manage and drive internal Projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Storage Environment

• Being part of a team that designs, configures, develops, integrates, tests, implements, documents, and supports the storage infrastructure ecosystem.
• Required to work with different teams to explain requirements and suggest the appropriate storage systems and backup solutions and procedures.
• Required to build & maintain storage systems for information.
• Required to facilitate the designing of the concept and procedure, besides handling resource allotment.
• Required to maintain the fibre channel switches and SAN arrangements by ensuring that software and firmware are in keeping with the latest needs of the customers and the organisation.
• Required to work with vendors to fix issues that they cannot themselves.
• Required to research new technologies to suit the customer’s and organisation’s existing infrastructure.
• Capacity planning.
• Required to set up and maintain documentation of the existing infrastructure and solutions.
• Required to maintain resource allocation.
• Required to compile data usage and performance reports.
• Required to attend technical meetings.
• Required to upgrade, implement, monitor policies, and procedures to ensure steady storage provisioning, protection of data, and adherence to compliance.
• Required to monitor and manage back-ups.
• Veeam knowledge required.
• Required to manage change control process & procedures.

Server Environment

• Required to configure and manage server environment of different operating systems, such as Windows, macOS or Linux, including installing, fixing issues, and upgrading while implementing enhancements to improve performance and reliability. Required to design, implement, and manage enterprise system technologies.
• Required to support technologies, such as Active Directory, DFS, Terminal Servers, Hyper V, KVM, VMWare, Internet Information Server, and file server migrations.
• Knowledge and experience with Cloud Solutions, virtualization software, such as VMware and Hyper-V, scripting with PowerShell.
• Required to support, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot the server environment, oversee, and resolve problems of the server environment, network devices, storage, and client devices.
• Required to diagnose, detect, and resolve other issues
• Required to have thorough understanding of patching tools and security vulnerability scanning.
• Required to interpret information in generated reports and come up with strategies to get rid of unearthed vulnerabilities. Required to create project plans for all system deployment and modifications and document them.
