A well-established leading chemical manufacturing company in Kempton Park has an excellent career opportunity for a suitably qualified site civil engineer.

POSITION INFO:

Purpose of the job

Take the lead in Environmental, Safety and Civil CAPEX projects on a turnkey basis projects from doing preliminary design, applying for funds, writing up detail scope of works, executing the projects, managing contractors and adherence to OHS Act and legal compliances that occur on the effluent farm and on the plant.

Furthermore, to assist with the civil and structural repairs and maintenance on site focusing to increase the life span of equipment in a highly corrosive environment.

Qualifications:

• Matric
  • National Technical Diploma in Civil Engineering

Experience

• 5 years’ experience in civil engineering construction/design

Professional Membership Required

• Professional registered at ECSA

Knowledge / skills/ competencies

• Knowledge of Civil Construction / Design

• Knowledge of relevant legislation

• Knowledge of all safety and legal requirements

• Computer literacy in MS office (Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Projects) including SAP

• Technical understanding, operation and maintenance of typical solar evaporation farm equipment

• Knowledge of Water Act.

• Knowledge of Water Use licenses

• Knowledge of ISO 14001 and 18001 Standards and any other standards

• Eco-systemic and Bio- diversity knowledge

• Earth moving and excavations knowledge

• Technical ability to read, understand and interoperate geo-technical drawings

• Mechanical knowledge of pumps, piping and evaporators will be advantageous

 Key performance area

• Ensure compliance to the Water Use License

• Ensure compliance to the Air Emission License

• Managing several types of projects (CAPEX, Civil Maintenance, Safety, Environmental and Turnkey)

• Ensure compliance of Solar Evaporation Farm too all applicable legislation

• All of the regulations / acts the civil engineer must assist company to ensure compliance by doing inspections, audits, day to day maintenance as prescribe

• Fully understanding of SAP to reduce back log on job cards / notifications / statutory inspections and to optimise the maintenance strategy to effectively maintain preventative maintenance strategy and condition base monitoring

• Investigate equipment failures to stop re-occurrences

• Budget and cost control

• Writing up detailed reports, doing inspections and audits as required by COP

• Fully understand the Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements and ensure that all legal inspections are carried out

• Storm water management of plant and solar evaporation farm

Other details

• Salary: R650K basic salary per annum negotiable depending on experience.
• Must be able to obtain a satisfactory medical report from the companies’ medical centre.
