SUMMARY:
To manage the total Engineering Function and meet manufacturing targets.

POSITION INFO:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or Diploma (Mechanical/Industrial) at NQF 6 level
  • Government Certificate of Competency – GCC Factories
  • 5-10 years’ experience in a FMCG Environment with knowledge of food manufacturing processes
  • Must have the expertise to lead maintenance personnel in solving electrical, mechanical and related problems on the shop floor
  • Must have knowledge and expertise to align the engineering function with manufacturing and technical requirements

 

Key attributes and competencies

  • Ability to lead and manage projects
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHACT
  • Ability to work in a highly pressurised environment
  • Negotiation skills and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to identify and establish future equipment technology requirements

 

Computer Literacy

Sound knowledge preventative maintenance systems

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Individual must be on site and be responsible GMR 2(1) for the site
  • Design and maintenance of Policies, Procedures and systems
  • Plant and equipment compliant to OSHACT
  • Manage Capex Projects
  • Manage the Operational Engineering Function
  • Provide support and advice to Operational processes
  • Manage Productivity through automation
  • Stay abreast of new technology
  • Ensure efficient processing through continuous improvement projects
  • Coordinate training programs for the engineering function to ensure growth in technical expertise through an internal feeder scheme
  • Implement equipment purchasing policy

Implement Manufacturing Excellence Customs and Practices (TPM)
