Site Manager – Natal

SUMMARY:
A reputable and well-established chemical manufacturing company based in Cato Ridge has a challenging but exciting position for a suitably qualified Site Manager.

POSITION INFO:

Purpose of the job

To ensure the provision of leadership in respect of all sites (Cato Ridge, Bloemfontein, and Atlantis) comprising of Production, Maintenance, Security, Site Facilities. Direct and translate the Manufacturing related information into Business Plans, as well as being a custodian of all functions related to performance, which concentrates on all production and the maintaining of all equipment as per legislative requirements.

Further responsible for the oversight and execution of all Safety, Health, Environment, Responsible Care (including Process Safety) requirements. Maintains active participation within Manufacturing.

This role holds the 16.2 legal appointment in terms of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

This role holds the legal appointment deputy MHI responsible person in terms of the Major Hazardous Installation Act [new regulations].

Qualifications:

• Matric
• Degree in Chemical Engineering or Production Management.
  • Professional Engineer (Desirable).
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a Chemical Manufacturing Environment
  • At least 5 years’ experience in Plant Management
  • Experience in working with operational excellence and world class manufacturing principles.
  • Experience in managing and coordinating projects, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Experience in using Corrective Action Systems (i.e., Ariscu)
    • Experienced in relationship building and cross collaboration at a senior level.

Experience

Knowledge / skills/ Competencies

• Computer literacy in MS office (Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Projects)
• Knowledge of relevant Legislation
• Knowledge of all safety and legal requirements
• Knowledge on Water Use Licenses and Air Emission Licenses
  • Extensive knowledge of hazardous chemical manufacturing and handling codes in a Chemical and MHI environment
  • Knowledgeable on different types of equipment related to chemical manufacturing plants.
  • Skilled in hazard identification, risk assessment and root cause analysis
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical data books.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 systems.
  • Knowledge on Operations Technology (i.e., SCADA, PLC, SAP IM and MES)
  • Extensive knowledge of the OHS Act.
  • SAP working knowledge.
    • In-depth knowledge of Maintenance Systems, and requirements to comply with MHI processes.
    • Sound knowledge on Process Safety Management – MOC, HAZOP and HIRAs
      • Sound understanding of project management, contractor management, supplier management, change principles and continuous improvement.

Reporting structure:

• This position reports to the General Manager - Operations.
• Must be able to obtain a satisfactory medical report from the companies’ medical centre.

Salary: R1 080 000 basic salary per annum but highly negotiable depending on experience.
