Snr Accountant / Jnr Financial Manager

SUMMARY:
A well-established packaging business, based in Pretoria's Moot area, has recently become part of a larger group and is entering an important period of change. This is a hands-on opportunity for a strong finance professional who can take full ownership of the financial function while helping the business improve systems, controls and reporting.

POSITION INFO:
The right person will know that change does not mean changing everything. Good existing processes should be protected, while outdated or inefficient ways of working should be improved with care, good judgement and minimal drama. This role suits a Senior Accountant ready for broader responsibility, or a Junior Financial Manager who enjoys being close to the detail. Strong management accounting, stock and inventory experience will be particularly important. Duties \/ Key Responsibilities Take ownership of the full financial function. Manage debtors, creditors and bookkeeping processes. Prepare management accounts and financial statements. Manage VAT, tax and other statutory financial requirements. Monitor and manage cash flow, identify potential pressure points and implement practical steps to keep cash flow healthy. Maintain strong financial controls and accurate reporting. Manage accounting relating to stock, inventory and distribution. Monitor stock movements, costing, margins and inventory values. Oversee financial aspects relating to imported goods. Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiencies. Support the business through changes in systems, reporting and group requirements. Liaise with external auditors and manage audit requirements. Work closely with the Group Financial Manager on reporting, controls and financial matters. Provide useful financial information to management to support decision-making. Requirements Minimum 5 years' relevant financial experience. Strong full-function accounting experience. Solid management accounting skills. Strong understanding of stock, inventory and distribution accounting. Experience within an importing, distribution, manufacturing or product-based environment will be highly beneficial. Comfortable working hands-on while also looking at the bigger financial picture. Able to assess existing processes and improve them where necessary. Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English. Strong Excel and accounting system skills. Education Qualified Professional Accountant with SAIPA, AGA or CIMA credentials. Soft Skills Practical, level-headed and organised. Comfortable taking ownership and making decisions. Able to introduce change with tact and professionalism. Strong attention to detail without losing sight of commercial priorities. Good communicator who can work confidently with operational teams, auditors and group management. Adaptable and comfortable in a business going through change.
