Snr Fire Systems Design Engineer, Centurion, Rneg + Ben

Tech or B. Eng. in Mechanical / Civil / Electric / Process / Chemical
National Higher Diploma in Fire Technology
Member of Professional Body – Engineering Council of SA/ Institute of Fire Engineers
5 – 10 years exp in Fire Protection Design and Installation Consulting engineering, Mining and minerals Construction
Reading and interpreting of drawings MS Office (Advanced Excel) Technical writing
Mine Health and Safety Act Piping systems
Project administration
Use of hydraulic simulation software (Pipeflow or similar) Use of drawing programs (AutoCAD, Inventor or similar) Use of Visio
Valid Driver’s License

Knowledge of relevant codes and standards:

NFPA
FM
SANS
ASIB
Client Fire Standards (Anglo, Eskom, etc)

DUTIES

Provide technical support for internal departments on various projects
Provide technical support to clients as and when required
Provide field support as and when required
Provide commissioning support
Conduct site visits as and when required
Attend tender clarification meetings as and when required
Generate preliminary designs and BOM’s
Liaise with client to determine and discuss needs and requirements
Conduct risk assessment for quotation
Conduct risk assessment and determine scope definition
Apply codes / standards / specifications to ensure systems and products are aligned to accepted fire protection standards and legislation
Review existing client documentation to provide
Generate the following documentation for projects according to project requirements:

? Preliminary and/or detailed designs

? Calculations

? BOM

? Reporting

? OEM Manuals

Liaise with drawing office to provide instruction and guidance as and when required
Advise client on legal requirements and standards of fire detection and suppression systems on an ongoing basis
File and store relevant documentation
Design standard company offerings
Generate, maintain and update relevant internal tools, templates and documentation
Ensure products and services are up to date and relevant with latest trends and technologies
Provide continuous training to relevant stakeholders
Maintain relevant accreditations
Provide ongoing mentoring and coaching to team members
