Solutions Architect

The solutions architect responsibilities include gathering requirements and functional specifications, assessing the current software systems in place to identify areas in need of improvement, and overseeing development teams. You should also be able to regularly update the company on any developments in systems architecture projects. To be successful as a solutions architect, you should be able to integrate any updated specifications and requirements into the systems architecture. An outstanding solutions architect should be able to articulate complex problems to management in layman’s terms. Key Responsibilities:

• Building and integrating information systems to meet the company’s needs
• Assessing the systems architecture currently in place and working with technical staff to recommend solutions to improve it
• Resolving technical problems as they arise
• Providing supervision and guidance to development teams
• Continually researching current and emerging technologies and proposing changes where needed
• Informing various stakeholders about any problems with the current technical solutions being implemented
• Assessing the business impact that certain technical choices have
• Providing updates to stakeholders on product development processes, costs, and budgets
• Work closely with project management teams to successfully monitor progress of initiatives.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:
• A bachelor’s degree in information technology, software engineering, computer science, or related field
• 8+ years in a corporate IT environment working with multiple disciplines to deliver projects in line with customer needs
• Proven experience in engineering and software architecture design
• Prior experience in a Solutions Architect role, advantageous
• Work experience in a professional services industry, is preferred

Technical Competencies:
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, MS Outlook) Office applications is advantageous
• Microsoft Visio or similar preferred.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to quickly form professional relationships with colleagues and clients at all levels of seniority & problem-solving skills
• Used to working in a business culture that promotes adherence to procedures and controls
• Good communications skills and the ability to effectively manage various stakeholders
• Ability to prioritise and coordinate tasks efficiently, ensuring all deadlines are met.
