Solutions Architect: Cloud

SUMMARY:
A specialist ICT Solution provider is looking for a Solutions Architect: Cloud to be the subject matter experts for information technology projects, helping guide these projects to completion.

POSITION INFO:

Role Purpose:

Solution architects are the subject matter experts for information technology projects, helping guide these projects to completion. They must be able to handle multiple projects, be innovative, and be able to communicate effectively across multiple departments in different degrees of technical detail. When dealing with infrastructure, they design new solutions, maintain existing ones, and ensure information technology policies are adhered to. They serve as a team leader and are the main point of contact for many major architectural issues. 

Solution architects work in a team setting to resolve complicated issues. They may also work alone, gathering information on industry standards, software, technologies, and tools. Solution architects generally work full time during regular business hours; however, they may also need to be available on call and work overtime as required by their employer.

• Establish and own the Company''s solutions roadmap for all technologies.
• Provide technical presales support to assist in developing the sales pipeline. 
• Drive strategic plans into execution; manage solutions through design, development and work with the Account Managers to close opportunities. 
• Through individual efforts and in partnership with the sales team, target new clients and consult with clients to plan and design complex solutions. 
• Recommend architectural features and enhancements. 
• Represent the Company at industry events and work with our Marketing division to secure opportunities for public speaking and articles to evangelize the Company’s  solutions.
• Provide oversight and input of group work plans.
• Responsible for all architectural design aspects of large or complex projects.
• Ensure project deliverables are met on time and on budget.
• Establish practice-wide strategy to develop core competencies around technologies. 
• Solid understanding of all Cloud technologies and the design of public cloud, hybrid cloud & private cloud infrastructure.
• High level experience across all virtualization technologies with a focus on VMware & Hyper-V. Others will be advantageous.
• Solid understanding of high availability / DR, backup and archiving services within data centers and on site. 
• Solid understanding of the South African business segments. 
• High level experience across Microsoft technologies including Azure, Cloud, Communications, Messaging, Systems
• Management and/or Collaboration. Other Cloud technologies are advantageous.

Qualifications & Experience:

• A Solution Architect position requires at least 10+ years of experience in solution design and solution architecture.
• Solid understanding of how architectural designs relate to large project objectives and business requirements. 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
• Relevant IT/ equivalent qualifications. Experience is key.
• 5+ years’ experience in Solutions to Enterprise customers.
• 10+ years of IT experience across all disciplines in infrastructure technology solutions.
• 7+ years of experience developing architectural solutions and strategies across multiple domains across all disciplines. 
• 5+ years of experience developing architectural solutions and strategies for emerging
• markets. 
• Public Cloud Certifications advantageous
