SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Head of Sourcing the candidate will work closely with the Sourcing Risk and Compliance Officer and the Sourcing Administrator.

POSITION INFO:

Must be a self-starter and able to work in a consistent, logical manner, with minimal supervision. Additional experience and qualifications above the minimum requirements will be to the applicant’s advantage.

Essential Qualification and Experience

  • Metallurgical background and/or qualifications
  • 5 years of experience within marketing, trading, sourcing, evaluation, CRM environments and/or experience in the precious metals industry
  • Smelter experience
  • Engineering background
  • Sales & contracts background
  • Procurement background
  • Precious Metals background
  • Understand the smelting and refining processes with logistics, receiving, evaluation and supply chain knowledge
  • Understanding of materials handling and sampling & assaying techniques/issues
  • Familiar with Legislative and Responsible sourcing requirements
  • Understanding of the source of feedstocks and the drivers that determine their characteristics

 

Essential Skills

  • Computer knowledge (MS Office –Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Advanced computer literacy: SAP and Excel and PowerPoint
  • ERP knowledge (SAP)
  • Database construction (Access, Excel Macros)
  • Document management systems (SAP DMS, Isometrix, SharePoint)
  • Market intelligence (Thompson Reuters, GFMS etc.)
  • Financial & numerical acumen – budgeting, profitability, market sizing calculations
  • Refinery Operations Contractual terms and conditions.
  • Logistics Management and Shipment arrangements
  • Knowledge and information transfer (pricing, profitability)
  • Understanding and information transfer (queries, pricing)
  • Able to understand detailed accurate calculations, Risk assessments on the onboarding of new customers
  • Able to build trusting and honest customer relations
  • Excellent professional communication skills
  • Able to propose, design, implement and execute business processes
  • Able to identify and rectify problems quickly
  • Comfortable in dealing with clients & vendors and negotiating
  • Basic understanding of contract law and the commercial structure of contracts
