Candidate qualifications:

• Minimum BSc Structural Engineering. Further qualifications welcome but not essential.
• Professional registration with ECSA.
• 8-10 years post registration experience.
• At least 10 years structural engineering consulting experience.

• We seek to employ a Structural Engineer who shall be responsible for structural engineering operations and project delivery. Key qualities include the:
• Ability to deliver projects without supervision as allocated by the Infrastructure Lead
• Demonstrable track record of structural design, have a sound understanding of structural behaviour, ability to deliver structural design without supervision and exhibit design team leadership
• Good project, contractual and commercial management skills.
• Knowledge of various analysis methods including hand calculations and computer modelling using structural analysis software (Robot, Revit, Prokon, AutoCAD skills); Thorough understanding of digital technology including BIM
• Ensure that all work produced complies with company, national, industry relevant standards and project quality requirements, understanding at least the principals of Quality Assurance and Health & Safety best practice.
• Ability to check and review own work; ability to check the work of others.
• Ability to write technical reports. Give presentations to clients. Management and administration.
• Monitor progress against programme of self and junior team members.
• Willingness to develop others in the team - Maintain good working relationship with other engineering team members mentoring and coaching; Encourage skills transfers from senior to junior staff by coaching juniors in analysis and design techniques - Embrace the learning and development facilities within MPAMOT to ensure professional development of self and team
• Support Project Manager for various projects within the engineering department ensuring timely and profitable delivery of works, quality of deliverables, and budgetary control.
• Be keen to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Experience in private sector developments.
• Have good client networks and client management experience; and
• Be willing to travel within Southern Africa and internationally.
