Structural Engineer (Pr. Tech Eng)

SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to provide strategic design, as well as independent, professional quality assurance in order to reduce the risk of the any clients.

POSITION INFO:
Strategic Function • Provide strategic design and advice from the outset of any project from an Engineering perspective. Operational Functions • Continuous Quality Assurance o Oversee quality and accuracy of prototype and design drawings as provided by the client and professional service providers (service designs, plans and as-built drawings) o Research and advise on best practice delivery o Provide technical input into project implementation plans, standard contractual documentation (best practice, governance items) o Provide occupation\/profession specific quality control during project execution o Seek to minimise project cost and enhance value for money, while keeping regulatory standards and quality o Keep abreast of, and advise on, local statutory regulations and manage incorporation of these regulations into relevant programmes o Project\/programme schedule and cost control Continuous Improvement of Cost, Civil Engineering, Design and Estimating Services o Keep abreast of new developments and technologies in the field of civil engineering o Liaise with external engineering firms and associations regarding documentation, benchmarking rates and alternative procedures to ensure improvements and cost saving o Optimize standard guides, methods and techniques to evaluate the utilisation of available resources o Evaluate and identify new initiatives or enhanced\/improved products o Identify and investigate problem areas to recommend possible solutions o Assist the Governance, Risk and Compliance Lead in conducting internal audits for assurance that standards and procedures are being applied o Compile and present special reports when required o Broad civil design skills o Apply engineering principles to devise and deliver new and innovative approaches in order to solve complex problems o Use computers and computer-aided design (CAD) technology for simulation purposes o Preparation of specifications, proposals and other tender documentation o Liaise with construction contractors to ensure that the newly erected buildings and civil works are structurally sound o Liaise with other designers, including architects, to agree on safe designs and their fir with the aesthetic concept of the construction. Requirements: Civil \/ Structural Engineer must be professionally registered with ECSA (PrEng \/ PrTech Eng) with a valid registration. 8 working years' experience required. Experience on buildings, structures and civil infrastructure (water and sewer). CAD (REVIT) experience preferred School facilities and other related experience at project and programme level will be advantage. Familiar with IDMS & SIPDM\/FIDPM Input into building policies and standards.
