Structural Engineer

POSITION INFO:

A multinational Telecommunications company is seeking a Structural Engineer with experience in tower design and analysis to join their fast-growing team. The ideal candidate will be registered as a professional engineer.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field 
• Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field preferred
• Professional engineering license with evidence of registration or membership

Skills/Experience required:

• Preferred experience includes at least one of the following:
  • Minimum of 3 year in design and analysis of communications structures.
  • Minimum of 5 years in structural design of steel or concrete structures.
  • Minimum of 6 years in construction or field engineering of steel structures.
• Working knowledge of TIA/EIA-222 standard and other relevant steel or concrete standards preferred.
• Basic knowledge of CAD software, preferably AutoCAD
• Intermediate knowledge of structural analysis/design software, design methods, tower structures, other steel structures and concrete structures.

Job Description:

• Review requests for engineering services, as well as structure drawings and mappings, to determine whether adequate information is provided to complete a structural evaluation.
• Perform structural analyses of communication structures as well other structures located at communications tower sites, using hand calculations, analysis software or other approved tools and generate required engineering reports.
• Perform modification designs, generate required engineering reports, and work with a CAD Designer to generate modification drawings.
• Provide support to contractors during implementation of modification solutions.
• Review designs and calculations provided by third parties for accuracy and completeness, including approval of new build construction drawings.
• Provide tower maintenance rectification solutions for tower defects.
• Ensure that system data and engineering documents are kept current to facilitate accurate customer and sales reporting.
• Provide quality, timely, and accurate support for any enquiries and issues within defined areas of responsibility.
• Provide guidance to new employees in the form of process and technical training and mentoring. Present engineering-related topics to Engineering department staff.
• Assist with the creation of new workflows, processes and procedures.
