SUMMARY:
The Structural Revit Draughtsman is responsible for producing accurate and detailed structural drawings and Building Information Modelling (BIM) models for commercial, residential, industrial, and infrastructure projects. The role requires advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, with a strong understanding of structural engineering principles, construction methods, and industry standards. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and project teams to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality construction documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Drafting & Modelling
- Prepare detailed structural drawings and 3D BIM models using Autodesk Revit.
- Produce general arrangement, reinforced concrete, structural steel, and foundation drawings.
- Develop reinforcement detailing and schedules where required.
- Prepare structural sections, elevations, and construction details.
- Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, engineering standards, and local building regulations.
- Update drawings based on engineering mark-ups and design revisions.
Building Information Modelling (BIM)- Create and maintain accurate BIM models throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate structural models with architectural and MEP disciplines.
- Participate in clash detection and model coordination meetings.
- Maintain BIM standards and file management procedures.
- Produce coordinated drawing packages from BIM models.
Project Coordination- Liaise with structural engineers, architects, contractors, and project managers.
- Attend project meetings when required.
- Review design information and identify drafting discrepancies.
- Ensure drawing revisions are accurately recorded and distributed.
- Support engineers during design development and project delivery.
Documentation & Quality Control- Produce construction drawings, shop drawings, and as-built drawings.
- Maintain drawing registers and revision histories.
- Ensure all documentation meets company quality standards.
- Conduct quality checks before issuing drawings.
- Assist with document control procedures.
Technical Support- Assist engineers with design calculations and technical documentation where required.
- Prepare quantity take-offs and material schedules.
- Support site teams by responding to technical drawing queries.
- Recommend improvements to drafting processes and BIM workflows.
POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements National Diploma or Certificate in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Multi-Disciplinary Drawing Office Practice, Architectural Technology, or a related field. Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Structural Revit Draughtsman within a consulting engineering or construction environment. Proven experience producing structural drawings for commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects. Qualifications National Diploma in Engineering Drawing, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline. Autodesk Revit Certification (advantageous). AutoCAD Certification (advantageous). Technical Skills Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit (Essential) . Strong AutoCAD skills. Knowledge of BIM processes and standards. Experience detailing reinforced concrete and structural steel. Understanding of construction methods and structural engineering principles. Ability to read and interpret engineering calculations and specifications. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
