SUMMARY:
International Mining company has an opportunity at their operations based in the Northern Cape for a Survey Manager. Open pit experience essential.

POSITION INFO:

 PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Reporting directly to the Mining Head, the incumbent is responsible to ensure that the mining / section targets are met through the provision of an efficient and specialised surveying service.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

•Must have Mine Surveyors Certificate of Competency

•Must possess Higher National Diploma/Degree in Surveying

•Competency requirements in line with the Mine, Health and Safety Act.

•The incumbent must have more than 4 years appointed as per 17.2 MHSA Regulation. 

•Driver’s License: Code B

•4 Years’ experience as a Survey Manager within the mining environment preferably an opencast & plant related environment

•Experience in Contractor survey certification & reconciliation

•Experience on Computer Supported Design software is mandatory (Vulcan, model maker etc.)

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Survey and Reconciliation of related Mining Operations

•Ensure production surveys are updated and executed according to short-term production planning requests to achieve the mine’s long-term targets. 

•Participate & Ensure Inputs into the mine planning process; on a short-and long-term basis.

•Ensure the construction, civil and cadastral surveying is executed according to the mine’s needs as well as the regulations of the Health and Safety Act and Survey practices. 

•Manage the Geomos system and ensure that slope-monitoring surveys are conducted at intervals as prescribed by the operation’s code of practice.

Improvement Initiatives

•Manages mine surveying resources and processes safely, efficiently and cost effectively to meet short term and long-term production and project objectives.

•Reports, analyses and comments on mining quantities, quality, grade, recovery and compliance to ensure theses are within the planned parameters.

•Generate weekly, month and reconciliation reports in line with the raw ore stockpile governance.

Compliance and Standards

•Ensure that statutory plans are compiled from all survey data to ensure compliance to the Mine Health and Safety Act

•Maintain all underground and surface survey plan of mine within the limits prescribed by law

•Ensuring timeous updating and submission of all survey related legal plans at Gamsberg mine in line with MHSA requirements.

•Direct operational activities to ensure compliance with all legal, environment, occupation health and safety and risk management and standards.

Ensure and oversee efficient and effective people management

•Development of Individual Development Plans to enhance career Growth & progression

•Manage training activities in the department.

•Ensure culture of performance and discipline in the department

•Set annual and monthly goals, objectives and targets with and for subordinates.

•Do regular performance/development reviews.
