Job Summary:

Responsible for assisting the Tax department. Be responsible for allocated tax work for clients. Ensure accuracy and completeness of work with attention to detail, while at the same time maintaining productivity.

POSITION INFO:
REQUIREMENTS:

Degree/diploma in accounting or business, or approved certificate in accounting;
Experience in a professional accounting firm or commercial environment;
Experience dealing with SARS and other related registration offices advantageous;
Basic understanding of income tax and VAT/sales tax provisions, financial statements and audits;
Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software;
Valid Driver’s License with own transport advantageous.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare tax working papers and assist with income tax returns for individuals and businesses
Support the preparation of objections, appeals, and payment arrangements
Liaise with SARS on client matters, including queries, registrations, and eFiling administration
Assist with tax directives and other SARS-related services
Maintain accurate client tax records and databases
Monitor and escalate tax compliance issues and deadlines
Handle SARS queries, appointments, and escalations (including complex cases)
Assist with client financial health checks and general tax administration
Ensure all work is completed accurately, on time, and in line with internal checklists and SARS deadlines
Provide regular progress updates and effectively manage assigned tasks to completion
Handle company registrations and de-registrations (CIPC)
Communicate professionally with clients and team members, ensuring timely responses
