SUMMARY:
Job Summary:

Responsible for assisting the Tax department. Be responsible for allocated tax work for clients. Ensure accuracy and completeness of work with attention to detail, while at the same time maintaining productivity.

POSITION INFO:
REQUIREMENTS:

Degree/diploma in accounting or business, or approved certificate in accounting;
Experience in a professional accounting firm or commercial environment;
Experience dealing with SARS and other related registration offices advantageous;
Basic understanding of income tax and VAT/sales tax provisions, financial statements and audits;
Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software;
Valid Driver’s License with own transport advantageous.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Taxation:

Prepare working papers for tax returns for individuals and businesses
Prepare income tax returns
Prepare objections and appeals as required
SARS liaison on contentious and difficult matters
Payment Arrangements
Apply for tax directives
Other SARS service matters for clients.

Tax Administration:

Liaison with SARS regarding client queries
SARS appointments
Database maintenance
Complex E-filing maintenance
SARS escalation to CMO/Ombudsman
Preparation of administrative document and capturing data onto electronic system:
SARS – registration, tax returns, eFiling

Reporting: Ensure any Proftax non-compliance dashboard is escalated.

General Administration:

Complete weekly workplans
Report back on work completed and work in progress
Communicate any work gaps
Participate daily in huddle meetings and report back on work done, work in progress and issues.
Respond to all email communication from clients and team members
Take full responsibility for work allocated to completion of assigned task (within required deadlines) including review and delivery to client.
