Tailings Engineer

SUMMARY:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Tailings Engineer to join our team in Johannesburg or Pretoria. This role is designed for a professional who excels in geotechnical analysis and is committed to providing expert technical advice while building strong client relationships.

POSITION INFO:
𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 The successful candidate will focus on optimising designs, managing stakeholder expectations, and ensuring rigour and accuracy in engineering decision-making. You will be expected to demonstrate independence in your tasks while collaborating with colleagues to deliver high-quality project outcomes. 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 A Bachelor's degree (BEng or BSc) in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering is required; a Master's degree is considered advantageous. Minimum of 5-10 years of post-graduate experience specifically within engineering and construction projects. High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and demonstrated knowledge of engineering-related software. Must have the right to work in South Africa, hold a valid passport, and be prepared to travel as required. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 Technical Advisory: Provide analytical support and technical advice on tailings issues to clients. Project Management: Coordinate engineering deliverables and procurement activities to maintain safe and efficient TSF execution. Professional Development: Commit to continuous learning with the goal of achieving Professional Registration (Pr.Eng.). Mentorship: Support the growth of junior engineers and contribute to a positive organisational culture. Safety & Risk: Lead health and safety initiatives and manage risks through design optimisation.
