A well-established, JSE-listed group operating in a complex, multi-entity environment is looking for a Tax & Reporting Accountant to join its finance team in Cape Town. The business operates across large-scale production, processing, and international distribution channels, with significant regulatory, tax, and reporting complexity typical of a diversified, export-oriented organisation.
This role sits at the intersection of technical IFRS reporting, tax compliance, and finance optimisation. It is suited to a CA(SA) who wants exposure beyond routine reporting - someone who enjoys digging into tax structures, improving ERP-driven processes, and contributing to group-level financial integrity in a business where finance plays a central operational and strategic role.

Duties:

IFRS Reporting

• Preparation of monthly general journals
• Preparation of current and deferred tax journals
• Support quarterly, half-year, and year-end reporting cycles, including Board reporting
• Compilation of subsidiary statutory annual financial statements

• Preparation of balance sheet components for budgets and forecasts
• Preparation of budgeted and forecast cash flow statements

• Maintain accuracy and completeness of the Wear & Tear register
• Review tax schedules and supporting calculations
• Prepare provisional tax calculations for South African entities
• Draft responses to SARS tax queries
• Reconcile tax-related general ledger accounts
• Maintain group tax opinions and supporting documentation
• Manage and maintain SARS e-Filing profiles
• Prepare income tax returns for South African entities
• Maintain oversight of overall tax compliance across the group (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax)

• Prepare quarterly and annual SARB reporting
• Act as ERP champion within finance, driving automation and optimisation
• Participate in finance-related projects and process improvements
• Support the Finance Manager in the overall management of the finance function
• Assist with financial year-end processes, including the external audit
• Oversee banking administration and profile maintenance

• Matric (Grade 12)
• CA(SA) qualification

• Strong academic grounding in IFRS and taxation
• Exposure to multi-entity or group reporting environments

• Minimum 2+ years’ post-qualification experience in a technical finance role
• Experience in IFRS reporting and financial statement preparation
• Practical exposure to corporate tax calculations and compliance
• Experience working in a group structure or complex operational environment advantageous
• ERP system exposure in a finance optimisation or super-user capacity beneficial

• Strong IFRS knowledge and application
• Solid understanding of South African corporate tax
• Group reporting and consolidation knowledge
• Advanced MS Excel capability
• Strong systems aptitude, particularly ERP environments
