Tax Compliance Manager | Industrial and Mining

SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities Tax Compliance & Regulatory Management Ensure full compliance with South African tax legislation, including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, SDL, UIF, and other statutory requirements. Prepare, review, and submit all tax returns accurately and within prescribed deadlines. Manage SARS eFiling and submissions. Handle all SARS audits, verifications, objections, appeals, and tax-related correspondence. Monitor legislative changes and ensure compliance across the business. Review and validate tax calculations and reconciliations. VAT & Payroll Tax Administration Manage VAT submissions and reconciliations. Ensure compliance with payroll taxes and employee-related statutory obligations. Identify and mitigate tax risks while maintaining compliance standards. Review transactions for VAT and tax implications. Financial Reporting & Governance Assist with tax disclosures and reporting for annual financial statements. Support year-end audit processes and liaise with external auditors. Ensure appropriate controls and governance frameworks are maintained for all tax-related processes. Maintain accurate tax records and supporting documentation. Advisory & Business Support Provide tax guidance and support to management and operational teams. Advise on tax-efficient business practices and structures. Assist with due diligence exercises, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions from a tax perspective. Identify opportunities for tax efficiencies and process improvements. Minimum Requirements Qualifications CA(SA), Registered Tax Practitioner, BCom Honours Tax, or equivalent tax-related qualification. Additional tax qualifications will be highly advantageous. Experience Minimum 5 years' experience in a dedicated tax compliance role. Strong knowledge of South African Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, and other taxation legislation. Extensive experience dealing directly with SARS. Experience with tax audits, disputes, objections, and compliance reviews. Strong knowledge of SARS eFiling and systems. Experience within a group structure or multi-entity environment will be advantageous. Skills & Competencies Exceptional attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines. Highly organised, proactive, and results-driven.
