Tax Manager

SUMMARY:
A global organisation with a strong African footprint is looking for an experienced Tax Manager to lead its South African tax function

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements Relevant Tax Specialisation degree. CA(SA), Master's in Tax, or equivalent qualification. 5-8 years' experience in South African tax. Registered SARS tax practitioner. Experience working with an ERP system for financial processing and analysis. Oracle experience would be advantageous. Strong knowledge of South African tax legislation and compliance requirements. Strong analytical, technical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work across multiple functions and manage competing priorities. Key Responsibilities Maintain registration as a SARS tax practitioner. Liaise with SARS and support the resolution of tax queries. Prepare responses to SARS relating to provisional tax and annual tax returns. Coordinate the timely submission of tax-related administrative matters. Prepare and submit relevant tax returns and supporting documentation Research South African tax legislation, regulations and tax accounting pronouncements. Assess the impact of tax developments on the organisation Provide tax technical guidance and act as a subject matter expert to the Finance team. Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, systems, automation and operational efficiencies. Support the implementation of tax best practices. Prepare, analyse and present provisional tax forecasts. Support tax budgeting and long-term cash-flow forecasting. Ensure tax liabilities and payments are accurately calculated and settled within required deadlines. Prepare and review indirect tax returns, including VAT and withholding taxes. Support transfer pricing analysis and documentation. Prepare and record tax provisions and deferred tax calculations. Manage related tax accounts on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Prepare and submit annual direct tax returns and supporting documentation. Conduct internal tax reviews and support the implementation of appropriate tax controls Maintain tax control documentation Support the Finance team with tax accounting queries raised by external auditors. Coordinate with Internal Audit, Controllership and external auditors on tax audits, SOX compliance and internal control requirements. Work closely with regional and global Finance teams to gather and analyse financial information required for tax compliance, reporting and forecasting. Partner with Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Legal and FP&A teams to assess the tax implications of business transactions.
