Tax and Reporting Accountant

SUMMARY:
A world-class engineering and professional services organisation is seeking a Reporting & Tax Accountant to support its South African operations. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with experience in large, multi-disciplinary, project-based environments, such as engineering, construction, infrastructure, or related sectors.

POSITION INFO:
This internationally recognised organisation delivers complex infrastructure and engineering projects across multiple sectors. The Reporting & Tax Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with tax regulations, and adherence to global financial governance standards.

This role requires a detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, manages deadlines effectively, and can collaborate with both local and global finance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in line with IFRS and global reporting frameworks.
• Manage tax compliance, including VAT, corporate tax submissions, and liaising with external tax advisors.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and internal reporting cycles.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure adherence to internal control frameworks.
• Partner with project, commercial, and operational teams to ensure accurate financial data.
• Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring the timely submission of audit requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) is ideal.
• Around 3 years of experience in financial reporting, tax, or a similar accounting role.
• Experience in engineering, construction, infrastructure, consulting, or other project-based professional services environments is essential.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African tax legislation.
• Understanding or exposure to tax regulations in other African countries would be an added advantage.
• Experience in or exposure to operations across the African continent will be an added advantage.
• Proficient in ERP systems and advanced Excel.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and jurisdictions.
• High attention to detail, with the ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
