POSITION INFO:
We are seeking an experienced Team Leader: Microsoft SQL to lead and manage a high-performing SQL, Cloud, and Infrastructure team. This role is suited to a technically strong leader with extensive expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, cloud technologies, and enterprise infrastructure environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, performance, and availability of critical business databases and services across both on-premises and cloud platforms, while driving operational excellence and supporting the organisation's technology objectives. Operating within a 24\/7 environment, this position requires a hands-on leader who can mentor technical teams, drive operational excellence, and collaborate with development, cloud, security, and business stakeholders to deliver resilient and scalable solutions. Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and develop the SQL engineering team. Manage enterprise SQL infrastructure across on-premise and cloud platforms. Oversee database performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization. Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, replication, backup, and recovery processes. Drive automation, reliability, and operational excellence across database environments. Collaborate with development, DevOps, cloud, BI, and security teams to support business-critical systems. Monitor and resolve production incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions. Manage database security, user access controls, compliance, and risk mitigation initiatives. Oversee operating system licensing, patch management, upgrades, and performance monitoring. Lead capacity planning, infrastructure growth strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives. Support and participate in a 24\/7 operational environment, including after-hours support when required. Minimum Requirements Bachelor''s Degree, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Information Technology. Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (essential). Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate (essential). SQL Server, Azure Data Engineer, or equivalent certifications. ITIL and CobIT knowledge and experience. Minimum 5 years'' experience as a System and Cloud Administrator. Minimum 5 years'' experience working with Microsoft SQL environments. At least 2 years'' experience managing and mentoring technical teams. Experience with Microsoft licensing management. Experience providing after-hours support and participating in on-call rotations within a 24\/7 environment. Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, database administration, security, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.
