Technical Buyer

SUMMARY:
Our FMCG manufacturer client in Hammarsdale seeks a Technical Buyer, who will be responsible for ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective technical procurement. The role also requires that the candidate be proficient in export / transit operations from South Africa to DRC. The role combines cost effective engineering-based procurement expertise and export / transit coordination, guaranteeing timely availability of technical components. The role will report to Supply Chain Manager.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities Procurement & Technical Sourcing Develop and implement efficient and cost-effective technical procurement strategies with local suppliers in SA to procure all requested items by DRC Identify, evaluate, and engage qualified suppliers and technical partners to ensure proper response for all DRC requests (projects equipment and machinery, maintenance items and spare parts) Negotiate commercial and contractual terms with suppliers in SA Review, analyze, and manage suppliers' contracts Approve purchase orders and coordinate delivery of technical goods and services Maintain supplier and technical partner databases Handle all importation orders requested & initiated by DRC Export & transit Operations Manage the end-to-end export process from order to final delivery Ensure compliance and accuracy of export documentation Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs, and regulatory authorities for all export processes Prepare and manage customs documentation export files Ensure compliance with international trade and safety regulations Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement Prepare procurement and export activity reports Monitor suppliers, transporters, and freight forwarders agent performance in SA Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement Stakeholder & Team Collaboration Coordinate with DRC import and transit department Liaise with external suppliers, service providers, and public authorities Key Performance Areas & Metrics Cost savings and budget compliance Supplier and service provider performance Procurement and export lead times Contract compliance rate Customer satisfaction. Qualifications, Experience and Skills Degree in Engineering, Management, IT, or related field Minimum 3 years' experience in procurement, export, or \/ and supply chain operations Strong knowledge of technical procurement and export processes Fluent in English, French-speaking (advantageous) Proficiency in MS Excel, Outlook, and ERP systems
