JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Responsibilities:

Lead a team of four shift setters in an EBM (Extrusion Blow Moulding) environment
Ensure all EBM machines are operating safely, efficiently, and reliably, according to recommended operating guidelines
Ensure quality product is being produced consistently and process is optimised by establishing and documenting robust, repeatable parameters
Troubleshoot and resolve blow moulding and manufacturing processes and material issues, and implement long-term solutions
Identify, investigate (using analytical tools), and optimise process improvement opportunities and lead process improvement projects in a structured, professional manner using production data, design of experiments, Six Sigma and other methods, to improve manufacturing processes for cost reduction, quality improvement to increase efficiencies
Develop and implement preventative mould maintenance program utilising internal and external resources
Provide leadership on development projects, coordinating activities from design to pilot tool until production start-up of the production mould
Coordinate product and material type tests with the quality assurance team
Assist the Production Manager / QHSE Manager in implementing required training for Machine Operators

Education:

Matric (Grade 12)

Job Experience & Skills Required:

Technical qualification with 5- 10 years plastics processing experience
Strong knowledge of and insight into operation of EBM machines and its auxiliary equipment
In depth understanding and experience of plastic raw materials, the plastification processes and material behaviours in production
Knowledge of and deep experience in changeovers/set-up/maintaining extrusion stretch blow moulding machines and its and its auxiliary equipment
Ability to lead people and to generate a positive team environment
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Proven ability to successfully train technical and other personnel
Technical knowledge of and mould construction
Six Sigma and lean manufacturing experience is preferred
Effective time management and task/project prioritization with minimal supervision
Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule
Proficient with computer applications (e.g. Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
