JOB SUMMARY:
Manage and improve effective functioning and good integration between the various technical departments on the shaft or within a shaft cluster.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (CV’s without copies of qualifications will not be considered)
âª Degree or equivalent in a mining related field e.g. Mining, Geology, Mining Surveying etc. (essential)
âª Honours degree in a mining related field as specified above will be advantageous
âª Other relevant certificate of competency for Technical Services, Mineral Resources or Mining (essential)
âª Professional registration in field of expertise is (essential)
âª Financial qualification would be advantageous.

JOB SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS: (Essential)
âª 10 years Technical/Mineral Resource experience in tabular ore bodies, preferably within the platinum mining industry
âª Knowledge of Impala standards and practises
âª Mineral resource and technical management principles and processes knowledge
âª Mineral resource and technical systems (IT) knowledge
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
âª Managerial experience of mine technical services function, e.g. Geology, Survey, Mine Planners, Rock Engineering,
Engineering, Safety and Ventilation
âª Technical evaluation (analytical) skills
âª Presentation skills
âª General computer/IT knowledge
âª Good verbal and written communication skills
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
âª Ensure effective functioning and good integration between the various technical departments on the shaft or within a shaft
cluster.
âª Co-ordinate all short, medium to long term planning as well as optimisation work at shaft level.
âª Ensure all operational planning is effective (G-sheets, pre planning, lost blast analysis etc.).
âª Provide technical advice to the Mine Manager and General Manager.
âª Monitor operational achievement and provide advice to the Mine Manager and General Manager on deviations and
impacts (volumes, quality of mining, cost and revenue).
âª Ensure all technical reporting is provided as required on and off the shaft.
âª Act as liaison between MRM Manager Operations and the technical heads as required.
âª Ensure that the service provided to mining by the technical services team is effective.
âª To co-ordinate all ad hoc requests of information at shaft level.
âª To ensure application of relevant standards and practises within the Mine Technical Services department.
