SUMMARY:
Gijima Staffing Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a client for a Technical Specialist: Mainframe (SYSPROG) to provide expert-level support and guidance in the management, maintenance, and optimization of mainframe systems and applications.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting mainframe environments through installation, troubleshooting of complex technical issues, implementation of system enhancements, and ensuring overall system performance, stability, and reliability.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements Qualifications Grade 12 (NQF 4) Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience Experience 5-7 years of experience in: Mainframe systems administration Mainframe support Mainframe development Strong understanding of mainframe technologies and architectures Experience with automation tools and practices for mainframe operations Knowledge of cloud computing and hybrid cloud solutions within mainframe environments Relevant certifications, such as IBM Certified Specialist, will be advantageous Technical Skills Required Applicants should demonstrate proficiency and experience in the following areas: Mainframe Platforms IBM z\/OS z\/Linux z\/VM Mainframe Technologies Mainframe and open systems concepts ISV products Automation, monitoring, and related system tools Security RACF Top Secret Programming Languages and Tools COBOL JCL Easytrieve Networking OSA SNA TCP\/IP Middleware CICS Databases DB2 IDMS Additional Specialist Knowledge MQ Connect:Direct LE (Language Environment) Certifications ITIL Certification Key Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences Key Responsibilities Provide expert support and guidance for mainframe systems and applications Install, maintain, and optimize mainframe environments Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues Implement system enhancements and improvements Monitor system performance and reliability Perform system tuning and make recommendations to improve stability and efficiency Support business continuity requirements within mainframe environments Participate in operational and technical initiatives to support service delivery Remain up to date with developments and trends within the mainframe technology landscape
