Technical Supervisor

SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced Technical Supervisor to lead hospital technical operations, ensure effective facilities maintenance, and oversee compliance with regulatory standards. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction to ensure uninterrupted hospital operations and optimal management of infrastructure, equipment, and engineering projects.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the hospital’s technical department, ensuring all plant and equipment are maintained to optimal efficiency
• Develop and implement a preventative maintenance plan aligned with manufacturer and compliance standards
• Oversee facilities functions including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, fire safety, CCTV, and backup utilities
• Provide 24/7 support to guarantee availability of critical systems and services

• Ensure adherence to the OHS Act, SANS regulations, municipal bylaws, R158, and Group policies
• Conduct regular risk assessments and implement corrective measures
• Maintain legal records for equipment servicing and infrastructure inspections
• Investigate incidents and implement root cause corrective actions

• Manage hospital assets, loan/demo equipment, and ensure biannual asset verification with Finance
• Oversee refurbishment and expansion projects with effective contract and cost management
• Implement and monitor a job card system across the hospital
• Perform load calculations and ensure electrical supply meets facility demands

• Manage the performance, development, and retention of technical staff
• Prepare and manage department budgets, including contract negotiations
• Provide strategic reports to hospital leadership and support decisions on capital projects
• Conduct customer satisfaction surveys and act on feedback to improve service delivery

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
• Minimum 3 years' experience in hospital maintenance or engineering environments
• Proven leadership experience in a hospital setting is essential
• Strong knowledge of OHS regulations, project management, and engineering procurement
• Proficient in MS Office and asset management systems
• Experience with healthcare infrastructure development is highly advantageous
