Technician Supervisor – Engineering Services

SUMMARY:
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Technician Supervisor to join the Engineering Services team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will play a key role in supervising and managing all engineering operations and projects across the Western and Eastern Cape regions.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the maintenance and projects department
• Implement and manage preventative and corrective maintenance programs
• Supervise major equipment refurbishments to optimise asset performance and reduce operational costs
• Manage and coordinate project work plans and ensure timely execution
• Oversee training and skills development within the team
• Ensure all on-site installations and maintenance meet high-quality workmanship standards
• Enforce SHERQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Risk & Quality) compliance across operations
• Foster a strong safety culture and eliminate risks to personnel and property

Minimum Requirements

✅ Matric (Grade 12) with Maths, Science, and English
✅ N6 and/or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
✅ Trade-tested Artisan in a related engineering field
✅ Basic business management certificate
✅ Registered gas installer (SACGA accreditation) – preferred
✅ Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a heavy engineering or production environment (preferably in gas or a related industry)
✅ At least 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role, leading technicians, artisans, and contractors
✅ Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and transfer knowledge
✅ Strong communication skills with experience dealing with suppliers and clients at all levels
✅ Sound knowledge of SHERQ systems and ISO standards
✅ Excellent planning and organisational abilities
✅ Medically fit to work at heights
✅ Valid Code 08 driver’s license and reliable vehicle
✅ Willingness to work overtime and travel when required
✅ Proficient in MS Office for reporting and administrative tasks
