We are looking for a Technology/Domain Specialist II to join our financial services client based in Sandton for a 12-month contract role.
The Technology/Domain Specialist II is responsible for the overall evolution, health, and strategic direction of multiple technology or domain assets. This role provides technical leadership, establishes engineering standards and best practices, influences technology decisions, and ensures that solutions are aligned with enterprise architecture, governance, and business objectives. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering teams, architects, and business stakeholders to drive innovation, optimise technology assets, and mentor technical teams.
POSITION INFO:
What you will be doing: Own and drive the evolution, health, and strategic direction of multiple technology or domain assets. Provide technical guidance and subject matter expertise to engineering teams and key stakeholders. Guide application design, code quality, integration, and engineering best practices. Conduct technology and code reviews to ensure compliance with enterprise standards. Define, review, and implement technology patterns, practices, and architectural standards. Guide code branching, merging, and software development best practices. Advise Engineering Leads, Architects, and senior stakeholders on technology strategy and roadmap execution. Collaborate with domain architects and technical consultants to develop and execute technology roadmaps. Ensure technology solutions comply with organisational governance, risk, and compliance frameworks. Develop and maintain technical roadmaps aligned with enterprise architecture and dependent technologies. Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies and innovative solutions. Participate in technology communities, special interest groups, and industry forums. Optimise technology performance, integrations, scalability, and operational efficiency. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across technology assets. Evaluate technology decisions and identify risks, impacts, and mitigation strategies. Maintain and enhance the technology knowledge base and technical documentation. Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions, mentoring, coaching, and upskilling initiatives. Support Agile delivery, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives. Contribute to organisational objectives, engineering capability development, and business strategy. What we are looking for: Degree or Diploma in Information Technology or a related discipline is preferred. Relevant certification in a technology or domain specialisation is advantageous. Minimum of 8 years' IT experience , including at least 5 years working within relevant technologies or domains . Strong experience in application development, software engineering, and enterprise technology environments. Demonstrated ability to define technical standards, architecture patterns, and engineering best practices. Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching development teams. Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, technology governance, and asset management. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
