Trade Lead Engineer

SUMMARY:
Looking for a Senior person as a Trade Lead Engineer in Johannesburg CBD. Must have been in a Banking Trade environment for at least 8 years.

POSITION INFO:
Purpose of role:
To shape, plan, lead Trade Portfolio delivery providing expert Engineering skill, directing system capabilities, priorities, resources ensuring solutions are developed, maintained to standards, practices. To synthesize, mature Engineering Practices (Software -; Quality -; Change & Release; DEVOPS) across Portfolio delivery teams (5-12 teams).Lead, manage resources: software -, quality engineers, technical system team (50-80 resources), building capacity, capability, competencies in Engineering team.

Qualification:

• Information Technology studies
• At least 8-10 years hands on experience with:
• Coming from a background of full lifecycle design and development covering solution design, application design, development, testing and maintenance, network software, operating systems, multi-tier environments, desktop and workgroup software, middleware, server technology, fault tolerant environments, development tools.
• Broad experience of application development methodologies, data base methodology, programming languages, data base concepts and IT infrastructure and operations.
• Proven track record to a broad spectrum of stakeholders including senior executives. Knowledge of Agile and Lean frameworks, methods and practices and experience in being a catalyst for organisational change. Experience working with cross-functional teams fostering collaboration and team work. Exposure to broad business and financial management type experience, specifically within the banking sector. Good understanding of the IT environment.
• Knowledge of Agile principles including scaling, scrum of scrums, multiple teams and DEVOPS
• The knowledge of release planning, velocity, capacity planning, burndowns, burn up rates and story mapping.
• The ability to implement agile metrics to measure the value delivered to business. These metrics include velocity, sprint burn-down chart and release burn-up chart

• Possess strong knowledge of trade-related products, including Vanilla Trade and Supply Chain Financing.
• Possess strong understanding of trade banking concepts, including Trade SWIFT message structures, credit principles such as direct and contingent liabilities, and accounting concepts like accrual and amortization.
• Continuously develop and mature competency of the Engineering team by overseeing the provision of support in the form of training, mentoring, coaching, etc. for practice team members to allow them to attain mastery in their technical skills. Collaborate and create opportunities for team members to acquire adjacent skills (T-shaped employees ) and emergent skills as well as actively driving cross skilling as a strategic initiative in conjunction with other technology engineering practices.

• Create client value through shaping end-to-end delivery and management of technical solutions realising business solutions and features. Provide expert Engineering leadership to focus on building capability that produces predictable, reliable and sustainable solutions, across all teams in the Portfolio.

• Establish clear content authority in collaboration with the System Architect/ Engineer, Product Managers, and Product Owners to align teams to the system mission and vision i.e. system Future State Architecture strategies, roadmaps as well as System Service Ownership requirements e.g. system dependencies, required service levels etc.
• Manage and control the financial forecast, budget and reporting for the Portfolio Engineering team to ensure the effective control of costs
• Refactoring - Have the ability to revise existing code without impacting its functional behaviour.
