Transport Manager

Overview:

Overall responsibility for the entire fleet (trucks and bakkies); to perform technical inspections and audits to maintain operational fleet standard, as well as to ensure roadworthiness and cleanliness of trucks and that deliveries are made on time. 

Minimum requirements: 

• Trade qualification (Diesel Mechanic) or strong Technical exposure and knowledge
• Grade 12 or equivalent
• 3+ years supervisory/managerial experience
• Experience in FMCG environment – added advantage

Responsibilities:

• Fleet Management – ensuring that all vehicles are 100% roadworthy and fit to be on the road in all aspects
• Staff Management – ensuring all staff / teams are performing as expected
  • Mechanic
  • Mechanic assistants
  • Storeman
  • Store clerk
  • Tyre Team
• Service Plans / COF/ Licensing
• Route Plans
• Driver debriefing
• Reports: Service Level
• Expense tracking – checking repairs / parts costs are within budget and managing the budget
• Ensuring correct parts are ordered at the best price
• Attend Invocoms
• Compile all required reports within set deadlines

Position Specific Requirements:

• 6-day position
• Required to work Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays as the business requires
• Required to be on 24/7 standby
• Ability to work in a Pressurized environment
