SUMMARY:
We are seeking a skilled Cisco Voice/Collaboration Engineer to manage, troubleshoot voice, video, and collaboration systems. The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge of Cisco’s voice and collaboration solutions and have hands-on experience with enterprise-level communication infrastructure.

FORMAL EDUCATION:
· Grade 12 (NQF 4)
· Tertiary qualification in Information Technology (NQF 6) or relevant years’ experience and/or technical certification
EXPERIENCE:
· 5 years of experience in Cisco voice/collaboration engineering.
· Experience with video conferencing solutions like Cisco Telepresence or Webex.
· Familiarity with Microsoft Teams integration or other collaboration platforms.
· Experience with virtualization technologies like VMware for hosting UC solutions.
· Experience with scripting and automation tools for system configuration and maintenance.
· Understanding and hands-on experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unity, Cisco IM & Presence, Cisco Jabber, and Cisco Webex.
· Mitel Private Branch Exchange (PBX) (advantageous)
· PortaOne telephone systems (advantageous)
TECHNICAL / LEGAL CERTIFICATION
· Cisco CCNP Collaboration/Voice certification (essential).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Design and Implementation: Deployment of Cisco Unified Communications (UC) solutions including Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unity, Cisco Contact Centre, and Cisco Meeting Server.
· Collaboration Infrastructure: Configure and maintain voice, video, and messaging systems, ensuring high availability and reliability for enterprise communication.
· Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve advanced issues related to VoIP networks, video conferencing, telepresence, and other collaboration tools. Provide Tier III support for all voice related technologies using internal ticketing system. Attend and resolve related calls logged within the agreed signed SLAs.
· Integration: Work on the integration of Cisco UC with other third-party systems, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration capabilities. Design and implement SIP Trunking with existing Teams infrastructure
· Security and Compliance: Ensure the voice and collaboration systems comply with security protocols and industry standards.
· Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of UC networks and systems, identifying areas for improvement. Ensure all engineered installation designs meet the guidelines of “best practices”, security requirements and the intent of the stated requirement.
· Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of voice and collaboration network designs, configurations, and troubleshooting steps. To furnish service reports on the Network performance by using appropriate communication channels to keep all stakeholders abreast of developments.
· Collaboration: Work closely with IT, network, and security teams to ensure alignment and performance of UC solutions.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge
- Proficiency in VoIP protocols such as SIP, H.323, RTP, MGCP, and QoS.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across voice, video, and collaboration environments using tools such as Cisco Prime Collaboration, Wireshark, and other monitoring tools.
- Internet Application Layer protocols, services and standards.
- Network design and troubleshooting, network principles such as Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), Virtual Private Network (VPN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), Quality of Service (QOS), Routing and Switching , Network Management Systems (e.g., IPSec) including technologies and concepts, Modems Carrier Technology, Cabling Principles
- Carrier Services, documentation of network architecture, Service Level Agreement (SLA) reporting.
