POSITION INFO:
We are urgently seeking a qualified and experienced Underground Coal Mining Engineer to join our team in Middelburg. The successful candidate will play a critical role in overseeing underground coal mining operations, with a strong focus on safety, production efficiency, and equipment utilization. This role requires hands-on experience with continuous miners, shuttle cars, and roof bolters, as well as a solid understanding of underground mining regulations and engineering principles. This position needs to be filled ASAP.
? Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and oversee Underground Coal Mining operations
- Optimize the use, maintenance and repair of continuous miners, shuttle cars, and roof bolters
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations
- Monitor production targets and implement corrective actions where needed
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including geology, safety, and maintenance
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and reporting
- Support operational decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives
? Minimum Requirements
- GCC 2.13.1 accreditation (mandatory)
- Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Mining Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of Underground Coal Mining experience as Engineer
- Proven experience with continuous miners, shuttle cars, and roof bolters
- Strong understanding of Underground Coal Mining methods and safety protocols
- Proficiency in mining software and ERP systems
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills
