A leading mining engineering and technology organisation is seeking an experienced Underground ECI Engineer to join their technical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the electrical, control and instrumentation engineering aspects of underground mining projects, from design and specification through to installation, commissioning and operational support. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong underground mining exposure and a solid understanding of electrical, control and instrumentation systems to work on technically challenging projects. Key Responsibilities Design and engineer Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (ECI) systems for underground mining applications. Develop electrical and instrumentation designs, specifications, schematics and technical documentation. Design and integrate LV\/MV electrical systems, MCCs, PLCs, instrumentation and control systems . Prepare equipment specifications, cable schedules, termination schedules and engineering calculations. Review and approve engineering drawings and technical documentation. Interface with mechanical, mining, process and other engineering disciplines. Participate in equipment selection, technical evaluations and vendor assessments. Provide technical support during installation, commissioning and fault-finding activities. Conduct site inspections and assist with resolving technical and engineering issues. Ensure designs comply with applicable South African legislation, mining standards and client specifications. Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and project teams. Assist with project planning, cost estimation and technical reporting. Provide engineering input into upgrades, modifications and optimisation of existing underground mining systems. Support continuous improvement, reliability and safety initiatives. Minimum Requirements BEng \/ BSc \/ BTech in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Control & Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline. 3+ years' relevant engineering experience , preferably within the mining industry. Strong experience with underground mining electrical and control systems . Knowledge of PLC, SCADA, instrumentation and industrial communication systems. Experience with electrical drawings, schematics and engineering documentation. Understanding of mining electrical standards, regulations and safety requirements. Experience with commissioning, troubleshooting and site-based technical support. Valid driver's licence. Willingness to travel to underground mining sites as required. Advantageous Experience Underground mining machinery and infrastructure. Conveyor systems, pumping systems, ventilation or material handling. PLC\/SCADA systems such as Siemens, Rockwell\/Allen-Bradley or Schneider . Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), MCCs and motor control. Industrial Ethernet and fieldbus communication networks. Hazardous-area instrumentation and electrical installations. Experience working on mining projects from FEED\/design through to commissioning . Familiarity with mine health and safety requirements and applicable SANS standards. Please send your cv to
