Unit Manager Neonatal ICU/ Paediatric

SUMMARY:
Urgently seeking an experienced and qualified Neonatal ICU Unit Manager for the NICU/PAED ward in the East Rand. The Unit Manager will also be responsible for monitoring and ensuring the quality nursing care and service delivery is implemented and practice within a multi-disciplinary team.

POSITION INFO:

Successful Candidates Must Have The Following:

• B Cur Degree or Degree in Nursing Science and relevant management qualification
• Must be registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) (compulsory)
• Must be NICU trained (compulsory)
• Must have BLS Certification (compulsory)
• Minimum 5yrs exp in private/public hospital
• Must be Advanced Computer Literacy
• Excellent Leadership and management skills
• Ability to communicate effectively
• High quality control with strong attention to detail
• Good interpersonal and patient care skills

Key work output and accountabilities:

• Ensure that the unit is providing safe, cost effective quality patient care in line with the clinical governance strategy of the hospital and evidence based practice
• Evaluate the patients’ journey via patient experience and stakeholder contribution
• Evaluate and monitor nursing quality indicators and clinical outcomes
• Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care
• Promote health and wellbeing of patients and employees
• Ensure the principles of infection prevention and all international standard precautions are adhered to
• Implement group quality initiatives
• Liaise with public liability with regard to all incident of potential risk to the business
• Unit manager will be accountable and responsible for coordinating capacity building, mentoring, coaching, training and development in his/her unit.
