SUMMARY:
Client in the MINING INDUSTRY requires the services of an UNIT MANAGER OPTIMISATION AND PROCESS CONTROL in the WEST RAND as soon as possible

POSITION INFO:

The appointee should:

  • NQF 9 (Masters’ Degree) in Electronic or Process Engineering, with a focus on Optimisation and Process Control.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a related role, of which 2 years should have been at a  management level or experience in a functional/specialist area.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the mining industry.
  • Programming experience in relevant languages (C#, Python, Matlab, etc.).
  • Clear security screening record.
  • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant Occupational Health Centre

Advantageous requirements:

  • NQF 10 (Doctoral Degree) in Process Control and Optimisation would be advantageous.
  • Certified in development with technologies associated with Industry 4.0 (i.e. computer vision, machine learning, digital optimisation and advanced process control) would be advantageous.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conducting workshops with key stakeholders to identify optimisation opportunities in line with a corporate strategic focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance criteria.
  • Conducting Enterprise Architecture workshops to identify digital optimisation opportunities within specifically the Manufacturing Execution System
  • Conducting process control maturity assessments throughout the organisation.
  • Conducting project initiation workshops to align objectives and scope with key stakeholders
  • Documenting project scope and obtain approval.
  • Completing project planning and scheduling.
  • Participating in post-project implementation reviews.
  • Defining and developing optimisation and process control solutions that integrate and develop on key EA technologies (incl. Manufacturing Enterprise System, Programmable logic controllers, Laboratory information management systems,
  • Performance reporting systems and miscellaneous application programming that interfaces to 3rd party monitoring and control technologies).
  • Identifying process improvement value offering measured on cost savings, safety, efficiency, and quality improvements
  • Identifying potential solutions that addresses problems using monitoring, control, and optimisation.
  • Developing robust optimisation solutions using first principles modelling, empirical modelling, model validation and simulation of proposed solutions to demonstrate a proof of concept.
  • Defining solution implementation approach and details.
  • Identifying and prioritising process changes.
  • Obtaining approval on the proposed process change plan from the relevant stakeholders.
  • Implementing prioritised process changes.
  • Validating and testing new solutions.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally.
  • Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with external service providers regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance operations and business processes.
  • Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment such as the BeQ.
  • Motivate, coaches and develops reporting staff

Driving a culture of transformation within the specific operation to ensure organisational sustainability
