Employer Description Our client specialises in industrial refrigeration Job Description The Health and Safety Officer ensures compliance with health and safety legislation, company standards, and client requirements across projects, workshops, and offices. The role focuses on risk management, inspections, and incident control to maintain a safe working environment and promote a strong safety culture. You will be responsible for the following: Implement, maintain, and monitor health and safety systems in line with OHS legislation, construction regulations, and company standards Ensure full compliance with statutory, client, and contractual health and safety requirements across workshops, sites, and offices Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses Compile investigation reports, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans Report incidents to relevant authorities where required and maintain statutory records Register, manage, and track all injury on duty (IOD) and COID claims, including documentation submission, follow-ups, and record keeping in accordance with legislative and company requirements Prepare, implement, and maintain project and workshop safety files Maintain records including inductions, medicals, competency certificates, training, inspections, permits, and PPE registers Compile monthly safety reports for management Conduct site and office safety inductions Monitor contractor compliance with safety requirements during execution Liaise with Project Managers, Supervisors, clients, and regulatory authorities on SHEQ matters Qualifications Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or a related discipline SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or equivalent recognised safety qualification Registered with SACPCMP Skills 3 - 5 years' experience in construction, mechanical, industrial, or refrigeration environments Sound knowledge of South African OHS Act, Construction Regulations, and related legislation Experience working on construction sites, workshops, and industrial facilities Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to sites
