Vehicle Design Engineer Electrical Systems

SUMMARY:
A leading engineering organisation specialising in advanced vehicle systems and specialised vehicle platforms is seeking a Vehicle Design Engineer – Electrical Systems to join its multidisciplinary engineering team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, integration and validation of vehicle electrical and electronic systems, from initial requirements and system architecture through detailed design, manufacturing, testing and commissioning.
This role is ideally suited to an Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronic Engineer with experience in vehicle electrical architecture, wiring harnesses, embedded systems, CANbus and the integration of electrical and electronic subsystems.

POSITION INFO:
A leading engineering organisation specialising in advanced vehicle systems and specialised vehicle platforms is seeking a Vehicle Design Engineer - Electrical Systems to join its multidisciplinary engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, integration and validation of vehicle electrical and electronic systems , from initial requirements and system architecture through detailed design, manufacturing, testing and commissioning. This role is ideally suited to an Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronic Engineer with experience in vehicle electrical architecture, wiring harnesses, embedded systems, CANbus and the integration of electrical and electronic subsystems . KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Design and develop vehicle electrical and electronic systems . Translate vehicle-level requirements into detailed electrical system specifications. Develop electrical system architectures and subsystem interfaces. Design and integrate vehicle wiring harnesses and electrical distribution systems . Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, pin-out documentation and engineering drawings. Select and specify electrical and electronic components. Design and integrate vehicle control units, sensors, actuators and electronic nodes. Support the integration of CANbus \/ J1939 communication networks . Interface electrical systems with mechanical, hydraulic and software-controlled systems. Develop and maintain engineering BOMs and technical data packs. Perform electrical design calculations and system verification. Conduct design reviews including PDR and CDR activities. Support prototype build, production release and manufacturing implementation. Develop and execute electrical system test procedures. Participate in testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and fault-finding . Investigate electrical and electronic system failures and implement corrective actions. Support EMC\/EMI testing and vehicle-level validation. Work closely with mechanical, software, systems and manufacturing engineers. Liaise with suppliers and customers regarding technical requirements and component selection. Provide technical support during vehicle integration, production and field trials. Manage engineering changes, NCRs and ECRs. Ensure designs comply with applicable vehicle, electrical, safety and customer requirements. VEHICLE SYSTEMS EXPERIENCE Experience with several of the following will be advantageous: Vehicle electrical architecture Wiring harness design CANbus \/ J1939 Vehicle Control Units (VCUs) Electronic Control Units (ECUs) Auxiliary Control Units Instrumentation and sensors Actuators Vehicle displays and HMIs Battery and power distribution systems Lighting systems HVAC electrical interfaces Engine and transmission interfaces Brake and steering control systems Driver assistance systems Vehicle diagnostics Embedded control systems MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS BEng \/ BSc \/ BTech in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or a related discipline . Minimum 3-5 years' relevant vehicle electrical\/electronic engineering experience . Proven experience designing or integrating electrical systems for vehicles or mobile equipment. Strong understanding of automotive electrical and electronic systems . Experience with wiring harness design and electrical schematics. Understanding of CANbus and vehicle communication networks. Experience with electrical component selection and system integration. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. Experience with CAD or electrical design software. Experience with vehicle testing, commissioning and fault-finding. Strong technical documentation skills. Valid driver's licence.
