Warehouse and Logistics Manager (DURBAN)

SUMMARY:
My client in the steel industry in Durban is looking for a Warehouse Manager. The ideal candidate should be out of the steel/metal or heavy engineering industries.

POSITION INFO:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. WAREHOUSE AND LOGISTICS EFFICIENCY

• Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice logistics vision, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
• Overseeing Warehouse maintenance and Scheduled Deliveries
• Deliver solutions to logistics problems while maintaining high levels of quality and service within budgetary requirements
• Monitor quality, quantity, delivery times, and transport costs
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimisation opportunities
• Ensure the integrity of inventory accuracy and manage stock movements with the help of direct reports (Warehouse Supervisor/s)
• Identify savings by removing waste or unnecessary steps in the logistics process
• Interpret trends and analyse and review data. Provide meaningful logistics data to others in the business to aid customer service and cost improvements

2. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

• Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvement
• Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
• Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required

3. FINANCIAL BUDGET AND CONTROL

• Hold responsibility for department budget and ensure control on all expenses.

4. RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with all connected with the logistics process
• Ensure all completed orders are dispatched on time
• Ensure compliance with import/export regulations/customs regulations, where applicable, and legal and health & safety requirements.

5. HEALTH AND SAFETY

• Comply with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policies
• Ensure that all functions under supervision operate in accordance with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors
• Ensure that the operation of the warehouse meets with the ISO requirements
• Staff files to be updated and assessed regularly.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• A Formal qualification in Operations Management/Logistics
• Experience in steel industry is of critical importance
• Driver’s License
