Are you an experienced Accountant who enjoys working close to operations rather than in a corporate glass tower? Our client, an established agricultural business in Gauteng, is seeking a hands-on Accountant to support financial operations at head office level. This role combines traditional accounting responsibilities with stock exposure and team supervision in a working environment.

Our client is a well-established agricultural operation specialising in red meat production. With vertically integrated operations and a strong operational footprint in Gauteng, the business requires a finance professional who understands both numbers and the practical realities of production environments.

Role Overview
Reporting to the Financial Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records up to Trial Balance level, overseeing junior finance staff, and ensuring full tax compliance. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a farm-based setting and engaging with operational teams when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit PAYE and VAT returns via SARS eFiling
• Supervise the Creditors Clerk and Admin Clerks
• Perform monthly bank, creditor, debtor and inter-account reconciliations
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly
• Assist with stock control and inventory verification
• Generate financial reports and management accounts up to Trial Balance
• Maintain accurate financial records
• Support audits and strengthen internal controls

• BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification
• 3 to 5 years’ accounting experience
• Experience within agriculture, manufacturing or SME environments is advantageous
• Strong working knowledge of SARS eFiling
• Proficiency in Sage Evolution or a similar ERP system
• Payroll system exposure
• Advanced MS Excel skills
