SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant to join their team. This is an opportunity for a mid-level finance professional looking to gain strong exposure within an operational accounting environment.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

Supervise operational Accounts Payable functions and assist with Accounts Receivable when required
Perform first-line review and approval of financial transactions before final posting
Ensure correct VAT treatment and accurate account allocations
Review and manage creditors reconciliations, acting as escalation point for queries
Prepare and review VAT reconciliations and submit monthly VAT returns
Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and perform asset accounting and cost analysis
Prepare regular and ad hoc financial reports and statements
Identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and implement solutions
Conduct financial reviews and provide insights and recommendations
Ensure compliance with Tax, VAT, and SARS requirements
Assist with journals, variance analysis, and routine accounting activities
Participate in stock-takes across the group
Establish and maintain internal controls, particularly within the retail segment
Assist with internal and external audits
Contribute to ad hoc financial and group-wide projects, including system implementations

Requirements:

Completed Accounting Degree
2–3 years’ relevant experience as an Accountant, Operational Accountant, or similar
Experience working on multiple accounting systems (Microsoft Dynamics advantageous)
Advanced Excel skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Ability to manage deadlines and work independently
Highly self-driven, curious, and eager to learn
Own reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license (travel between sites required)
