JOB SUMMARY:
Our client, a large accountancy firm, is currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant to start soonest at their Cape Town Offices.

Candidate must have at least 4 years post articles experience in this type of role.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Description:

The candidate must have strong communication skills, a pleasant personality, and the ability to get along with clients, colleagues, and peers alike.
He/she must have the ability to pay attention to detail at all times, have sound time management skills, must be capable of controlling workflow as relating to clients and be deadline-driven to ensure the meeting of deadlines/deliverables timeously.
He/she must have worked in a practical Accounting environment (the firm/s worked for does not have to be Chartered Accountants and for the purposes hereof SAIPA registered firms will also suffice).
He/she must have a sound knowledge of and as such be fully conversant with all relevant South African and International Financial Reporting Standards for SMEs (IFRS for SMEs) applicable to the South African Accounting environment.
He/she must be conversant with Income tax and Statutory taxes and returns including VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL, and COIDA, especially from a practical perspective including being conversant with SARS’ e-filing and SARS’ Easy-File;
He/she must have a strong theoretical and practical understanding of Accounting principles, sound theoretical knowledge, and practical application ability with regard to at least Pastel Partner, Sage Pastel online (and preferably other accounting software packages as well eg Xero online, and quick Books online) including the processing of bank, debtors, creditors, and stock/inventory, and a sound practical/working application ability with regard to EXCEL at an intermediate level.
He/she must have the ability to draft Annual Financial Statements and Management Accounts on Caseware.
He/she must have completed SAICA or SAIPA Articles with professional practice, ie SAICA or SAIPA registered, and must have had at least 2 to 3 years post-articles experience in an Accounting environment with a professional practice but not with a business in the commercial environment, and must, have with ie. SAICA or SAIPA is a recognized qualification commensurate with practical experience.
He/she must have the ability to pay attention to detail at all times.
He/she must be capable of supervising and checking/reviewing the work of a complement of approximately 2 to 3 junior/intermediate staff members in the Accounting Department.
He/she needs to have his/her own transport in view of the need to go out to Clients’ premises;

Minimum Requirments:

SAICA or SAIPA registered
Own Vehicle and Clean Credit and Criminal Record
Knowledge of Pastel and related accounting software
Knowledge of Caseware
2 to 3 years post article experience
