Accountant - Chemical Manufacturing

SUMMARY:
A leading company specialising in the manufacturing and distribution of pesticide, fertilizer, and other agricultural chemicals requires the above to ensure that all documentation required during the various stages of processing are received, queried, captured and filed as well as the smooth running of each department.

A leading company specialising in the manufacturing and distribution of pesticide, fertilizer, and other agricultural chemicals requires the above to ensure that all documentation required during the various stages of processing are received, queried, captured and filed as well as the smooth running of each department.

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a BComm Finance or Accounting or related degree.
• Previous experience having worked on Pastel Partner is essential.
• Previous experience having worked in an Accountant role is essential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Assisting the Logistics Department in the capturing of sales orders and raising invoices
• Assisting the Financial Manager with all accounting functions within the Company.
• Assisting with any Customer queries, statements, reconciliations when required.
• Processing of credit notes to Customer accounts.
• Journalising settlement discounts against Customer accounts.
• Collection of accounts receivable as well as handling all bad debts or write offs, discounting journals on Customer accounts.
• Creating purchase orders on Pastel for Suppliers and allocating expenses to the correct ledger accounts.
• Capturing and matching Supplier invoices against purchase orders on Pastel.
• Reconciling monthly creditors age analysis and submitting reconciliations to Management for approval.
• Writing off expired stock on Pastel and updating cash forecast on debtors and creditors.
• Calculating and submitting the SARS returns for PAYE, SDL and UIF, VAT, WCA, EMP501 Reconciliation, VAT501 and provisional tax.
• Reconciling general ledger accounts on a monthly basis and compiling and updating of asset registers.
• Creating accruals and standard month end journals for discount write offs etc.
• Assisting with full preparations of Company books for year-end auditing.

Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
