POSITION INFO:
Actuarial Specialist – Cape Town

What You’ll Be Doing:
You'll play a pivotal role in delivering actuarial audit support across a portfolio of established clients, including major industry names. You'll also have the opportunity to collaborate on a variety of innovative and non-traditional actuarial projects with multidisciplinary teams across audit and advisory service lines.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Actuarial audit support for insurance (life and general), retirement funds, and medical schemes
• Review and report on technical provisions, IFRS 17 liabilities, and IAS 19 obligations
• Support IFRS 17 transitions and policy impact analyses
• Model development and reviews for valuation, reserving, due diligence, and risk management
• Actuarial function reviews and enhancements for clients
• Data-driven analysis with actionable recommendations
• Client engagement and stakeholder communication
• Support operational setup of the actuarial unit
• Assist with business development, proposals, and thought leadership

• Qualifications:
  • Qualified or nearly qualified Actuary
• Experience:
  • Prior experience in actuarial audit support, preferably across insurance, pension funds, or medical schemes

• Solid understanding of actuarial principles related to IFRS 17, SAM, ORSA, reinsurance, capital requirements, and reserving
• Familiar with regulatory frameworks such as:
  • IFRS 17, IFRS 13, and IAS 19
  • ISA 540
  • QIS 3 (SAM)
• Experience with actuarial or analytics tools such as Prophet, Python, SQL, SAS, Power BI, or MATLAB is a strong advantage
