We are looking for an Actuarial Specialist: Microinsurance to join a leading insurance team on a permanent role in Sandton.

POSITION INFO:

What you will be doing:

Collect, analyse, and interpret data to support actuarial functions.
Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Analyse mortality, morbidity, lapse rates, and performance metrics for life and non-life insurance products.
Assist in the development and pricing of new insurance products.
Develop pricing models for life and non-life insurance products.
Conduct profitability analyses and support deal structuring.
Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with insurance products.
Support the development of risk mitigation strategies, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
Evaluate underwriting risks for non-life insurance policies.
Ensure compliance with actuarial standards and regulatory requirements.
Prepare statutory reports for life insurance products and ensure non-life products comply with local regulations.
Conduct experience studies to inform assumptions used in pricing, reserving, and risk management.
Analyse historical data to set assumptions and review claims and exposure data for non-life insurance products.
Work closely with underwriting, finance, and product development teams.
Communicate actuarial findings and recommendations effectively to senior management.
Present insurance risk assessments and assist in refining underwriting guidelines.
Stay updated with industry trends, actuarial techniques, and regulatory changes.
Participate in relevant actuarial exams and training sessions.

What we are looking for:

Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
Making good progress towards an Actuarial qualification.
3 - 5 years’ experience within the financial services industry
3–5 years’ working experience in an actuarial role, ideally with exposure to life and non-life insurance.
Experience in pricing, product development, and risk management.
Strong analytical, innovative, and collaborative skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
