SUMMARY:

Actuarial Pricing Specialist – ShortâTerm Insurance

A highâperforming Structuring and Solutions team within a leading shortâterm insurance environment is seeking an Actuarial Pricing Specialist to join its dynamic, riskâtaking business. This role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to pricing strategy, product development, and commercial decisionâmaking, delivering actuarial insight within a fastâpaced and innovative setting.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing robust, technically sound, and marketâcompetitive pricing frameworks, while supporting the design, review, and optimisation of new and existing insurance products. The environment is highly analytical and collaborative, providing exposure to complex pricing structures and bespoke insurance solutions.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities:

Take ownership of pricing methodologies and product development frameworks
Lead pricing and reâpricing initiatives to ensure both technical integrity and market competitiveness
Work closely with underwriting, claims, IT, and product teams to build a comprehensive understanding of products and operational processes
Review and approve new product proposals, ensuring commercial viability and regulatory compliance
Validate and review actuarial outputs produced by team members to maintain quality and accuracy
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior actuarial analysts
Enhance tools and monitoring processes to ensure ongoing pricing and policy value accuracy
Investigate pricing variances, quantify financial impact, and recommend corrective actions
Ensure adherence to audit standards, governance frameworks, and risk management requirements
Collaborate with external partners on pricing models and optimisation initiatives
Support the design and delivery of bespoke insurance solutions tailored to client needs
Monitor and report on product performance and profitability in line with actuarial best practice
Act as a senior actuarial advisor to management and external stakeholders

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Education:

Actuarial degree, or a Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics or Statistics as majors
Nearly or Newly Qualified Actuary (AMASSA)

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years’ relevant actuarial experience within insurance or financial services
Associate Actuary status or strong progress toward Associateâlevel examinations
Demonstrated experience in pricing, product development, and/or actuarial modelling
Strong understanding of insurance products, policy wording, and regulatory frameworks
Proven experience reviewing and validating actuarial work
Exposure to large datasets and data extraction advantageous

Skills:

Strong actuarial, analytical, and statistical modelling capability
Advanced Excel and strong numerical skills (essential)
SQL experience advantageous
Exposure to Python and/or R beneficial
Ability to translate complex analysis into clear, actionable business insight
Confident communicator across both technical and nonâtechnical audiences
