SUMMARY:
Employment Type: 3-year EXPAT CONTRACT only
Remuneration:  Paid in USD + accommodation and transportation

An established and expanding quick-service restaurant business is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Area Coach / Operations Manager to lead multiple restaurant operations across Malawi.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on leader with a proven track record in multi-site restaurant or retail management to drive operational excellence, team performance, customer experience, and business growth.

The successful candidate will oversee a portfolio of restaurants (up to 6), coach Restaurant General Managers, ensure compliance with operational standards, and deliver strong financial results across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

• Lead and support multiple restaurant locations to achieve operational excellence
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and operational standards
• Monitor inventory management, stock control, and cost of sales
• Drive consistency in service delivery and brand standards
• Oversee facilities maintenance and restaurant readiness

Leadership & People Development

• Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop Restaurant General Managers
• Build high-performing teams through training and succession planning
• Conduct performance reviews and talent development initiatives
• Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement

Commercial & Financial Management

• Drive sales growth and restaurant profitability
• Manage labour, food costs, budgets, and operational expenditure
• Analyse performance metrics and implement corrective actions
• Ensure reporting accuracy and audit readiness

Customer Experience

• Deliver exceptional customer service standards across all locations
• Monitor guest satisfaction and implement service improvement initiatives
• Resolve escalated customer concerns effectively

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years' experience in multi-unit restaurant, hospitality, retail, or franchise operations
• Demonstrated success managing multiple locations and large teams
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets and profitability
• Experience in operational compliance and performance management
• Excellent leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to travel extensively and relocate within Malawi if required
