Assistant Accountant

SUMMARY:

A well-established organisation operating across Southern Africa is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their finance team. This role offers exposure to end-to-end financial processing including AR, AP, inventory, reconciliations, reporting, and audit preparation.
You will play a crucial role in ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining compliance, and supporting both finance and operations through efficient systems and processes.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:
Finance

• Prepare and analyse financial records, financial statements, and management reports
• Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
• Perform inventory reconciliations and maintain accurate stock reporting
• Assign entries to correct accounts and prepare monthly reporting packs
• Process AP/AR transactions in alignment with operational requirements for the new D365 system
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations for selected GL accounts

• Prepare forms, manuals, and process documents for accounting and bookkeeping teams
• Analyse business processes and recommend improvements to enhance financial controls and efficiency
• Act as the focal point for vendor onboarding in Namibia
• Support operational units by resolving financial and system-related issues

• Leave processing and support for HR-related administrative tasks
• Process payment batches accurately and on time
• Handle visa applications and act as focal point for fleet card administration
• Support onboarding processes for new employees

• Prepare for, support, and coordinate internal and external audits
• Ensure compliance with governance, legislation, and audit standards
• Maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships

• Provide training, guidance, and financial support to internal teams
• Build effective working relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders

• National Diploma in Accounting or equivalent (minimum)
• Code B driver’s licence

• Minimum 5 years accounting experience (essential)
• Minimum 5 years ERP experience (D365 advantageous)

• Strong AP/AR processing background
• Skilled in inventory reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
• Knowledge of financial reporting standards
• Strong administrative and organisational abilities
