Assistant Mine Manager

SUMMARY:
Assistant Mine Manager needed in the Pilanesberg area to assist the Mine Manager in planning, coordinating, and overseeing all mining operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of chrome while maintaining compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), company policies, environmental requirements, and production targets

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements Knowledge Previous working experience on a chrome mine a must Minimum 5-8 years' mining experience. Experience in open-cast or underground mining. Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA). Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA). Occupational Health and Safety principles. Production planning and scheduling. Risk management. Budgeting and cost control. Contractor management. Mining methods and equipment. Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), Minerals Act requirements, and company policies. Assist in managing the day to day mining operations Support the achievement of production targets, quality standards, and cost objectives. Supervise mining supervisors, engineers, and operational teams. Monitor production performance and implement improvement initiatives. Assist in developing and implementing mine plans and production schedules. Ensure effective utilization of labour, equipment, and materials. Conduct regular inspections and safety audits. Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions. Ensure legal appointments and statutory requirements are complied with. Assist in preparing operational and production reports. Manage contractors and ensure compliance with contractual obligations. Promote employee engagement, discipline, and performance management. Coordinate training and competency development for operational employees. Participate in budgeting and cost control initiatives. Liaise with different departments to ensure operational efficiency. Ensure environmental management practices are followed. Act on behalf of the Mine Manager when required.
